PD Lens

See what your charger and device said on the CC wire

Open a Twonkie log captured with minicom, or a sigrok .sr session from a Twinkie. PD Lens decodes every USB Power Delivery message, graphs the negotiated voltage and current, and explains the negotiation step by step. Files never leave your browser.

Capture with Twonkie and minicom

  1. Open the console and save everything it prints:
    sudo minicom -D /dev/ttyUSB0 -C twonkie.log
  2. Optional: press Ctrl-A N to add minicom timestamps, which pins VBUS readings to exact times.
  3. Type tw trace on, then plug Twonkie between the charger and the device.
  4. Type tw vbus now and then to record voltage and current.
  5. Quit minicom and open twonkie.log here.

Capture with sigrok

  1. Record CC traffic, plus VBUS voltage and current:
    sigrok-cli -d chromium-twinkie:analog_channels=2 \
      --continuous -o capture.sr
  2. Stop with Ctrl-C after the negotiation, then open capture.sr here.

Sessions from other logic analyzers work too, as long as the CC line was sampled at 1.2 MHz or faster. Pick the CC channels in the Log tab if they aren’t named CC1 and CC2.
